Currency and Banking

New Zealand's currency is based on dollars and cents. All major credit cards are accepted. Banks are open 9am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  ATMs are widespread.

Customs Allowance

Duty free purchases may be made on arrival at the Auckland and Christchurch International Airport duty free shops, or city and airport duty free shops on departure. Duty free allowances, import regulations/tariffs are detailed at

Your Euro Camper will be equipped with a wifi modem which is working with a SIM Card. Additionally, you will find some more possibilities to access the internet for free!

In the centres of major cities in New Zealand you will get offered free wifi hot spots. Visit Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Rotorua and other cities to get access. Most of the bigger supermarkets like New World, Countdown or Pac'n'Save offer free Wifi as well. And public libraries have a free access and of course a lot of books or DVDs for rent.

Another possibility is to use one of the "pay as you go" spots in the i-SITE Visitor Centres, in Holiday Parks or Internet Cafes.

The i-SITE Visitor Centres know where to stay, what to do and how to get there. The travel experts at i-SITE can also do bookings for you. These include accommodation, transport, activities and attractions. You will also be informed about weather & mountain safety, travel itineraries and nearby events. Visa Information

All visitors to New Zealand must have a passport valid for at least three months after intended departure date.  Also all visitors need to check if they need a visa before they get on the plane. There are different visa types for different countries. Please visit the New Zealand Immigration government website for more information.

Taxes and Tipping

New Zealand Goods & Services Tax (GST) of 15% is included in all retail prices.  Some restaurants may add a surcharge for public holiday service. Tipping isn't customary and is entirely at your discretion.
